In the first half, the captain of Argentina scored an incredible long-range goal to break the tie. After the break, Fafa Picault, who scored from close range to restore parity, cancelled out his goal.
After 90 minutes of play, the scores were tied, and penalties were called. Messi confidently converted his penalty attempt to give Inter Miami a lead in the shootout. The game was concluded with a score of 10-9 in favour of the visiting team after 22 penalty kicks were made with only two misses.
Messi became the most decorated footballer of all time by leading his team to victory and winning the first trophy of his time playing for Inter Miami. This was his 44th trophy overall and the first of his Inter Miami tenure.
