Shah Mahmood Qureshi, a former Pakistani foreign minister and vice chairman of the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was detained on Saturday. In Islamabad, Qureshi was detained.
In connection with the continuing investigation into cypher, which PTI claims contains a threat from the United States to remove Imran Khan from power, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) detained Qureshi at his apartment in Islamabad, according to a report by Geo News citing its sources.
The accusation made by Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan last year following his removal from office is related to the cypher issue. Khan had attacked his rivals by alleging that he was fired as part of a “US conspiracy” and had used a diplomatic cable as evidence.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, vice chairman of the PTI, has once more been unlawfully detained, according to a social media post on the party’s page.
He was allegedly brought into custody by a sizable police force, according to the party.
Omar Ayub Khan, the general secretary of Imran Khan’s party, also announced Qureshi’s detention on X (formerly Twitter). Qureshi was detained, according to Ayub, after he returned home from a press conference.

Days before Imran Khan was detained and given a three-year prison term in the Toshakhana case, Qureshi was arrested.
Following the court’s decision, Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was apprehended at his Lahore home by Islamabad police working with the Punjab police. From Lahore, he has been dispatched to Islamabad.
