Around 10 AM on Saturday, armed unidentified armed men kidnapped an Indian Army man from his residence. The body of the soldier was discovered by Manipur authorities. The Defence Security Corps (DSC) battalion of the Army’s Sepoy Kom was found dead in Khuningthek village in the Imphal East region of Manipur. According to the officials, the soldier was abducted while on leave and belonged to Tarung in Imphal West.
“While on leave in Tarung, Happy Valley, Imphal West, an Indian Army soldier named Sep Serto Thangthang Kom (41), was kidnapped and ultimately assassinated by three unidentified criminals. At DSC Platoon, Leimakhong, Manipur, he was stationed. He is survived by his wife and two children, the Ministry of Defence’s public relations officer for Nagaland, Manipur, and the rest of Arunachal Pradesh said on X (formerly Twitter).
The only eyewitness to Sepoy Kom’s kidnapping is his 10-year-old son, who stated that three guys arrived to their house while he and his father were working on the porch. The wife, son, and daughter of the Indian Army man remain.
Put a Gun To Sepoy’s Head
Officials cited his son as saying that “the armed men placed a pistol on the Sepoy’s head and forced him into a white vehicle before fleeing the scene.”
“Sepoy Kom was unknown until early Sunday morning. His body was discovered at Khuningthek hamlet, east of Mongjam under Sogolmang PS in Imphal East, at 9.30 am. His brother and brother-in-law, who reported that the soldier suffered a single bullet wound to his head, confirmed his identity, the authorities said.
A sub-inspector of the Manipur police was shot dead in the state’s Churachandpur district a few days before to the targeted death of an Indian Army soldier. While doing his job duties in N. Chingphei village, sub-inspector Onkhomang Haokip was slain.
