Google honors late Bollywood star Sridevi’s 60th birthday with a unique doodle.
Google is commemorating the late Bollywood actress Sridevi’s 60th birthday with a unique doodle. Sridevi, who was born in Tamil Nadu in 1963, has appeared in approximately 300 films throughout the course of her four-decade career. Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, her daughters from her marriage to film producer Boney Kapoor, survive her.
The doodle drawing was created by Mumbai-based guest artist Bhumika Mukherjee and pays tribute to the great actress in a dance posture for which she was famous.
Sridevi began acting when she was four years old, in a Tamil film called Kandhan Karunai in 1967. She began her career in a range of genres, including Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films.

“After the film’s success, she and her co-stars became even more famous with a string of hit films like Guru and Sankarlal,” Google Doodle noted in her description. Sridevi was widely regarded as the star of Tamil cinema at the time, and her on-screen appeal drew interest from filmmakers in the Hindi-speaking film business as well.”
She rose to national prominence in 1976 as the protagonist in K. Balachander’s Moondru Mudichu. Later same year, after starring in the action comedy Himmatwala, Sridevi cemented herself as a national icon and box-office draw in Bollywood.
Sadma, ChaalBaz, Mr India, Nagina, Chandni, Lamhe, and many other films have been successful for her. “She remains one of the only Bollywood actresses to headline blockbuster movies without a male actor in an industry that was traditionally male-dominated,” Google stated.

Sridevi took a sabbatical from acting in the early 2000s before making a stunning comeback with the 2012 film English Vinglish. She had also appeared in television shows such as Malini Iyer and Kaboom in 2004.
The Indian government also bestowed the Padma Shri award on her in 2013. Later same year, her performance in the crime thriller ‘Mom,’ about a rage-filled and protective mother, garnered her the National Film Award for best actress.
“Sridevi forever made her mark on the film industry by charting new avenues for women to take on leading roles in Indian cinema,” according to Google. She will be remembered as one of the most talented Indian actors of her generation.”
According to the Dubai government, the legendary actor died of accidental drowning in her hotel bathtub after losing consciousness in 2018. Her untimely death shocked her fans and industry colleagues. The Bollywood star was cremated with full state honors on February 28.
