New Delhi, India – According to official figures released on Monday, retail inflation reached a 15-month high of 7.44 percent in July, as prices for vegetables and other food goods skyrocketed.
Inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 4.87 percent in June and is expected to reach 6.71 percent in July 2022.
Previously, high inflation was observed in April 2022 at 7.79%.
According to the report, food basket inflation was 11.51 percent in July, compared to 4.55 percent in June and 6.69 percent in July 2022.
According to data issued by the National Statistical Office (NSO), retail inflation in vegetables was 37.43% year on year, while the percentage of price growth in ‘cereals and products’ was 13%.
